WorkSafe Victoria has appointed Deputy Chief Executive Ian Forsyth to lead the organisation’s health and safety operations.
WorkSafe Chief Executive Greg Tweedly said Mr Forsyth’s appointment came at a critical time for health and safety in Victoria.
“Despite 2009/10 being the safest year on record and the growing community trust in WorkSafe as a regulator, our ten year safety targets as reflected in our Strategy 2012 remain ambitious, with injury rates trending up since February this year,” he said.
“The Board and I are confident that Ian will provide the focus and drive to ensure WorkSafe, in conjunction with our stakeholders, is best placed to actively pursue Victoria’s ambitious OHS targets and maintain our constructive approach to preparing the ground for national safety laws.”
Prior to being recruited by WorkSafe five years ago, Mr Forsyth held senior executive positions in the financial services and transport accident personal injury insurance industries.
Mr Forsyth will relinquish some of his current responsibilities, retaining legal, legislative and employer services and marketing and communication functions in his new role.
