Don’t walk, weld: The overarching benefits of ArcReach technology

Every time a welding operator pauses their work on a weld joint to walk to a power source and change the settings, they lose time. Which translates to a loss of productivity. This ‘stop and start’ process also affects the quality of the weld as the welding operator loses focus and increases the need for revision. In addition to this, there is the question of safety, particularly when it comes to multi-storied, busy job sites.

This whitepaper discusses the attributes and benefits of Miller’s remote control welding technology through welding cable. ArcReach is a solution that minimises the non-value-added time spent walking to and from a power source to make adjustments to welding parameters. Included on welding products such as the Miller Big Blue 800x Air Pak and XMT 350 FieldPro, ArcReach maximises arc-on time, weld quality and job safety.

Four ways 3D Printing is (Re)shaping product design and manufacturing

3D printing can be the answer to faster turnaround time – meaning you get your designs to market faster. Today, the technology is helping companies in a wide range of industries realize their design ideas at every stage, from concept to high-quality production parts — and to save time and money while doing so.

Stratasys is here to talk about why the manufacturing professionals are no longer limited to massive 3D printers that are both expensive and unsuitable for an office environment and how affordable industrial-grade 3D printers make it possible for even very small businesses to implement this paradigm-shifting technology with more 3D printing capabilities.

The eyes and ears of the food and beverage industry

Australia’s food and beverage processing industries are worth approximately $26 billion to the economy and employ almost 235,000 people. It is a vital industry because it not only produces goods for the local market, it is also a net exporter of foodstuffs and beverages. When combined with the related industries of agriculture, forestry and fishing, then the figure balloons to almost $54 billion.

Measuring 3D profiles of components prior to plasma cutting

The advanced measurement requirements for 3D cutting can be met by implementing advanced sensors with the capability to provide a high-speed, accurate and reliable measurement of 3D profile on regular basis. The ScanControl laser profile scanner from Micro-Epsilon is one of the most accurate laser profile scanners in the world with capability to provide high-speed measurement and ease of integration into industrial interface.

New XTS software functionality enables novel solutions in machine building

In 2012, Beckhoff set a new benchmark in intelligent parts transportation with the introduction of its eXtended Transport System (XTS), which has since been fitted to numerous generations of manufacturing machines. XTS does more than merely replace conventional conveyor belts, instead it enables completely new and innovative machine designs. Working with flexible motion profiles, it allows users to create processing sequences ranging from the very simple to the highly sophisticated and so optimize their entire manufacturing process. As new XTS functionality is rolled out, it is creating unprecedented levels of freedom that customers are turning into novel machine designs in collaboration with Beckhoff. At SPS IPC Drives 2018, among other products, XTS Track Management was unveiled, a software-based solution that further expands the linear transport system’s range of possible applications.

Six Key ERP Considerations for Your Business

In today’s ever-evolving digital world, the business of doing business is complicated. Globalisation, the emergence of the digital economy, and the transition towards largely user-driven ecosystems continues to disrupt old business models leaving many enterprises grappling to not only remain competitive but also relevant.

Given all the change and uncertainty facing many industry movers and makers, when it comes to ensuring operational efficiency and competitiveness, the current way of doing things is simply not going to cut it anymore. So where to next? And can the answer really be as simple as finding the right Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution?

A high speed solution with safety in mind

If there is anything that Maglio Companies values more than providing fresh produce to customers, it’s the safety of their employees. That is why the implementation of Rite-Hite® high-performance doors was done with safety in mind. The doors themselves offer advantages in safety, as well as maintenance. Unlike hard panel doors, fabric roll-up doors made by Rite-Hite have an exclusive “Soft Breakaway” feature. This means that if a pedestrian or equipment were to inadvertently run into the door, the chance of an injury is greatly reduced compared to traditional doors.

Five things to look at when buying a rugged smart device

In our modern world technology is inescapable, and in no place is it more vital than industry. Be that in the manufacturing industry or in the transport industry, or any industry in-between or otherwise, technology both shapes and is the key to the future. And key to modern industry technology is the smart device—particularly the rugged smart device. Whether it is a smart phone or tablet, smart devices are no doubt already in use in your industry. We’re here today to talk about the five things you want to look out for as a smart buyer of a rugged smart device.

Here’s what we believe are the five most important things to keep in mind when selecting the right smart device for your business.

3D sensor technology: Adding dimension to your machines

Intelligent sensors with 3D technology enable machines to perceive their environment with human-like vision, giving them the ability to work faster and more effectively, even in unstructured environments such as a mine site. The ifm range of 3D image sensing technology is designed for a variety of applications, including automatic collision technology, but it is also flexible and customisable.

This white paper provides an overview of the current technology, providing a comparison between intelligent 3D sensor technology and conventional 2D sensor technology and a discussion of the user-friendly, intuitive apps in the ifm 03D vision sensor range.

PC-based control increases throughput in additive manufacturing

Additive manufacturing processes can produce parts with the most complex geometries in a single operation. However, post-processing these 3D printed parts is time-consuming and costly. In order to remove this bottleneck in the production process, PostProcess Technologies has developed a series of machines that leverage a groundbreaking chemistry of detergents and abrasive media. The newest example is the Hybrid DECI Duo. The multi-functional machine provides automated removal of support material and surface finishing. It was automated with control technology from Beckhoff.
