Water products supplier to build $8m water-friendly factory

Global water products company Pentair is building a state-of-the-art, $8 million assembly, distribution, and research and development facility in Victoria, which will boast the latest water- and energy-saving technology.

Pentair makes pump, pool, filtration and water control products under the Pentair, Onga, Shurflo and Flotec  brands.

The new 6,800-square-metre facility in Dandenong South is expected to be ready for inhabitancy by the company’s 80 local staff members by mid-year.

The investment is a leap of faith for the manufacturer and distributor, and a boon for the Australian water products industry.

“As a company group we believe this facility will equip us well for the future and place Pentair in a position to continue to lead the way in the inevitable upturn in business confidence,” said Pentair managing director, Steven Lelli.

“We will be creating a state-of-the-art facility that will reflect our commitment to lean manufacturing and overall business efficiency and improvement.”

The facility will house a new paperless warehousing, stock picking and distribution network, which is expected to enhance Pentair’s response times to its reseller and dealer network.

“We will also have a much enhanced research and development facility within the complex including a new laboratory and test bed capacity,” said Lelli.

“And finally, we will have a showroom area at the front of the complex which will present several hundred products in pumps, filtration and water control that are within our range.”

The new Pentair facility itself, which is located at 1-21 Monash Drive, will also boast the latest ‘green’ building products.

These include energy efficiency gear, and a rainwater harvesting system on the roof of the complex which will hold more than 30,000 litres, to be distributed throughout the building and gardens.
