Victorian manufacturing excellence rewarded

Seventeen Victorian manufacturing companies and individuals were recognised by the Victorian Government and the Victorian Industry Manufacturing Council on 2 June 2010 as part of the Manufacturing Hall of Fame.

The Manufacturing Hall of Fame recognises companies and individuals for leadership and excellence in manufacturing, and for their contributions to the Australian and global manufacturing industries.

Among these were manufacturing company Colour Vision Systems, which won the Innovation in Manufacturing Award, in recognition of their approach to manufacturing.

Colour Vision Systems is a manufacturer of fruit grading systems that are based on the integration of mechanical conveyors with advanced sensor and vision based electronics aimed at automating the process of fruit grading, with high efficiency, repeatability and sustainability.

The Lifetime Recognition for Exceptional Services to the Victorian Manufacturing Industry award was presented to both Bob Herbert, former Chief Executive of the Australian Industry Group, and Greg Sword,

former general secretary of the National Union of Workers and long-time member of the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) executive.

The Young Manufacturer of the Year award went to James Dickey, quality specialist, Kraft Foods (Port Melbourne Vegemite Operation), and the 2010 Young Industry Ambassador award went to Carolyn Tan, of Boeing Hawker de Havilland.
