Australian premium lighting manufacturer, VAILO, has picked up two Australian Good Design Awards for its Zenith Gen-V PC Amber Floodlight.
The awards that showcase the pinnacle of excellence in the design, architecture, engineering and business sectors, were announced in Sydney on Friday.
VAILO’s ‘PC Amber’ received a prestigious Good Design Award Winner Accolade in both the Engineering Design and Product Design categories for exceptional design and innovation.
These were the third and fourth to have been won by the company in three years.
This year’s theme was “The Design Effect” which highlighted the role design plays in shaping better products, services, spaces, and experiences in the transition to a sustainable future.
The VAILO 1000W Zenith Gen-V PC Amber Luminaire was designed for outdoor area lighting.
The product focuses on effective illumination while minimising disruption to nocturnal wildlife.
VAILO founder and chief executive, Aaron Hickmann, said the industry recognition was important for his team who put time into developing the Zenith PC Amber Floodlight.
“We’re very proud of this light, and we are continuously researching new ways to develop our products for the Australian lifestyle and create less of an environmental footprint,” said Hickmann.
“Unlike traditional white or blue lights, which can disrupt natural behaviours of nocturnal animals and heavily attract insects, the Zenith Gen-V PC Amber uses PC Amber-coloured LED lights to provide a light source which complements the environment. It’s an environmentally friendly lighting option for wildlife-sensitive areas.”
Managing Director of Good Design Australia, Rachel Wye, said this year’s awards reflected the profound ripple effects that exceptional design could have on people, place and planet.
“The projects honoured in these Awards exemplify how thoughtful design can drive meaningful change, not only enhancing user experiences and the way people interact with the world, but also contributing to a more sustainable and more prosperous future,” said Wye.
“The Australian Good Design Awards are proud to recognise the truly inspirational work that is being done across different design disciplines, sectors and industries in Australia and overseas.”
The 2024 Awards highlighted excellence across 12 Design Disciplines, covering more than 32 Categories.
This year’s entries were rigorously evaluated by more than 80 distinguished Jurors from around the globe, including designers, engineers, architects, and industry leaders.
The evaluation process focused on three core criteria: Good Design, Design Innovation, and Design Impact, ensuring that each winner demonstrated outstanding design quality and effectiveness.
With its roots dating back to 1958, the Australian Good Design Awards, is one of the country’s most prestigious international accolades for design and innovation.
As the Awards mark another year of excellence, they continue to reflect the rich heritage and future potential of Australian and international design.
