Queensland Government Manufacturing minister Glenn Butcher has announced that $5 million is now available through round 4 of the Manufacturing Hubs Grants Program (MHGP).
Manufacturers in the Cairns, Townsville, Rockhampton, Gladstone, Mackay and the Gold Coast regions can now access grants up to $500,000 through this new round that the minister announced as part of Manufacturing Month celebrations.
The highly successful $33.5 million program supports small-to-medium manufacturers to improve productivity, adopt innovative processes and technologies, and create and maintain high performing workplaces.
“Only the Miles Government is delivering for Queensland manufacturers. Whether it’s our Made in Queensland or Manufacturing Hubs Grants or Energy Grants to help manufacturers cut emissions and costs – Labor is supporting businesses so they can grow and create jobs,” said Butcher.
“The Manufacturing Hubs Grant Program has a proven track record of success, injecting vital funds that achieve real and practical outcomes for regional manufacturers.
The MHGP has supported 101 regional manufacturing projects, created and supported over 1700 jobs and generated over $42 million in private sector investment.
This highly successful and popular grant program is helping to reduce the cost of doing business for manufacturers in regional Queensland like Mackay business JSIS Engineering.
JSIS Engineering has received $500,000 through Round 3 of the program.
This funding from the Queensland Government is enabling this local manufacturer to purchase and install electric ovens and dispensing machinery to improve automation and efficiency at their polyurethane product manufacturing facility.
This is expected to reduce their energy consumption, increase productivity and profits, and create 15 new jobs within their workforce.
This grant program is part of the Miles Government’s more than $240 million investment in supporting manufacturers across the State.
MHGP Round 4 is open now until 30 June 2025 or until funding is fully allocated. Manufacturers are encouraged to contact their local Manufacturing Hubs to discuss their eligibility and project application.
