A 54-year old man has died after being exposed to toxic chemicals in an agricultural chemical plant in Melbourne 19 May 2011, as reported in the Sydney Morning Herald.
The man was working on an exterior pipeline when the incident occurred, he was using a chemical which is used to make weed killer.
WorkSafe spokesman Michael Birt said the man was exposed to phenol, a substance used in the manufacture of herbicides.
Police believe the pipe broke and sprayed the man with the chemical; the incident is being investigated by police.
