TNT completes east coast super hub network

TNT Australia has opened new super hubs in Melbourne and Brisbane that complete its comprehensive east coast network of state-of-the-art transport and logistics facilities.

The Melbourne Airport facility at Tullamarine – the largest in TNT’s global network – and the new Redbank facility near Brisbane began operations in October. They join the Erskine Park super hub in Sydney which opened in March this year.

TNT Australia Managing Director Peter Langley said the completion of the three super hubs gives TNT the most modern and efficient east coast network of any express freight company in Australia.

“This is the final component of a significant infrastructure investment in our east coast network,” Mr Langley said.

“It is part of TNT’s global strategy “Outlook”, which aims to improve service quality and gain efficiency by streamlining processes and implementing cutting-edge parcel sortation technology and equipment.”

Mr Langley said the Melbourne Airport and Redbank super hubs were purpose-built to boost productivity and position the company for future growth.

“These new, state-of-the-art facilities will enable us to provide for the evolving needs of our customers, brought about by sustained growth in e-commerce and a shift to lighter weight, higher volume consignments.”

The Melbourne Airport super hub includes warehouse space of 38,000m2 and advanced parcel sortation technology that can process up to 18,000 parcels per hour.

TNT’s Redbank super hub has warehouse space of 25,000m2 and the capacity to process 15,500 parcels per hour.

Both new facilities have achieved a ‘4 Star Green Facility’ rating from the Green Building Council of Australia.
