THE Royal Australian Mint has commenced the next phase of its modernisation program with the signing of a $3.6 million contract for a new IT Business System.
The contract was won by Cincom Systems of Australia and is scheduled for completion late next year.
The new system, along with the refurbishment of the Mint’s facilities in Canberra and other modernisation projects, is central to the Mint’s objective of becoming one of the best manufacturing facilities in the world.
CEO, Janine Murphy, said along with the Mint’s refurbishment project and new Material Handling and Warehousing System, it was well on its way to becoming a truly modern manufacturing facility.
The refurbished Mint reopens in early 2009, with a more up to date public gallery and display of the National Coin Collection, which attract thousands of visitors to the Mint each year.
Paul Hargreaves, MD of Cinsom Systems Australia said the company was proud to have won the contract and to be associated with the Royal Australian Mint.
“Our systems and experience are in concert with the modernisation process currently underway at the Mint.
“We look forward to working with Frontier and Demand Management Systems in helping the Mint achieve its objectives to improve the efficiency, governance, and accountability of its business processes,” Hargreaves said.
