According to the International Energy Agency, 69 per cent of the energy used by industrial applications is related to electric motors, which are the driving force behind conveyor processes, pumps, heating and ventilation systems, and air compressors.
At a rate of 15 cents per kilowatt-hour, a typical 15kW continuous running motor uses almost $21,000 worth of electricity annually – about 18 times its initial purchase price.
“More than 90 per cent of an electric motor’s total cost of ownership can be attributed to its energy use,” said Steve Hittmann, Motion Australia’s category manager for Industrial Drive Systems & Mobile Final Drives.
“In addition to this, motors are often mismatched for the load they are serving. Operators can benefit from calculating their load requirements and operating hours to determine opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.”
Efficiency performance is one of the most important factors when you consider your motor brand of choice and how it will perform throughout its serviceable life, investing in a good quality high efficient motor will mean that savings will be continually made well after the purchase price has been forgotten.
TECO has been engineering performance, design, and functionality in industrial electric motors for more than 60 years–with a hand in everything from energy to transport, automation, heating and cooling appliances, and supply chains around the world.
In the Asia Pacific region, TECO has supplied motors to some of the harshest industrial environments from the Pilbara to Kalgoorlie to Papua New Guinea, earning them their reputation in the market as ‘the quiet achiever.’
TECO’s high efficiency motors power mining and quarrying sites, manufacturing plants, commercial buildings, and machinery across Australia and New Zealand.
The diversity of their experience across industries is what makes them uniquely qualified to engineer some of the most efficient electric motor solutions available to the industrial solutions market.
TECO’s latest Te3 series of Low-Voltage 3-Phase Induction motors are their most sophisticated low-voltage motor solution yet.
The TECO Te3 (IP55) and Te3 Severe Duty (IP66) Low-Voltage motors are Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled (TEFC) in a beautifully designed and finished cast iron casting – built to Australian standards.
