The panel building and switchgear manufacturing sector needs comprehensive digitalisation and automation if it is to keep pace with the demands of smart factories and Industry 4.0.

Manufacturing, energy and transportation companies are increasingly benefiting from Industry 4.0 applications after years of hype. The emergence of digital twins is one of the main reasons engineering and design teams are actualising these benefits for their enterprises.

Griffith University bioengineer, Dr Martina Barzan, supplied a 60-second pitch that won the Fresh Science Queensland 2021 competition on research using digital twins to design 3D printed components, aiming to remove the guesswork from paediatric hip surgery.
