Stokes to ditch badges, focus on appliance parts

Stokes (Australasia) Limited will sell off its Stokes Badges business.

The company announced to the ASX that it will continue to restructure and will focus on the appliance parts division of its business.

The sale of Stokes Badges is expected to be completed by the end of March.  Stokes has been making badges since 1856, and produced the original “Rising Sun” badges worn by the 1st and 2nd Australian Imperial Force soldiers in the World War One and Two.

“While the Stokes Badges business has a rich history we felt this was a necessary part of the of the overall company,” said managing director and CEO Con Scrinis.

Stokes acquired direct competitor Grimwood Heating Pty Ltd, a maker of heating elements and parts, in December last year, in a deal that Reuters reported was worth $250,000.
