SLM board advises shareholders to accept GE offer

GE has come a step closer to realising its plans to acquire SLM Solutions and Arcam for $US 1.4 billion, with SLM Solutions’ board advising shareholders to accept the offer.

The offer valued  SLM, a maker of metal-based additive manufacturing machines, at $US 761 million, and requires the approval of 75 per cent of shareholders.

It must be accepted by 75 per cent of shareholders, and by October 24.

SLM and Sweden’s Arcam would become part of GE Aviation, and follows the division’s acquisition of Morris Technologies in 2012.
