Sims reported to be considering Selway as new CEO

Sims Metal Management is considering appointing former chief executive of Boral Ltd, Mark Selway as its chief executive.

The Australian Financial Review reported that the candidacy of Selway follows the resignation of Daniel Dienst from Sims in February.

Referring to the candidacy of Selway, Sims Metal chairman Geoff Brunsdon told the AFR, “Anyone who has run a global business that is reasonably capital intensive and is in a highly competitive market could have the skills that are needed [to run Sims Metal].”

“The process is going exactly how we described when we made an announcement that we were going to go out and recruit.”

Selway was chief executive of Boral for just over two years.

Last year was not a good one for Sims Metal Management. The Sydney-born and US-based company posted a $521.4 million loss for last financial year.
