Shareholders approve Little World takeover

475 of 502 shareholder votes approved the takeover of Little World Beverages by Lion, the ABC and others report.

The takeover by Lion, ultimately owned by Japanese brewing giant Kirin, was hosted at LWB’s Little Creatures Brewery in Fremantle, WA. An agreement of $5.30 a share was reported in The Australian in June, and all that remains is for the Federal Court to approve the deal.

“We expect orders will be granted on Wednesday morning approving the scheme of arrangement following our shareholder meeting,” the Sydney Morning Herald reported LWB CFO Jason Markwart as saying.

Lion says that all staff will be retained, and directors are confident LWB’s brands, including Pipsqueak cider and Little Creatures and White Rabbit beers, will also stay as they are.
