Drive Solutions company SEW-Eurodrive is calling for support to raise funds and awareness towards the Mental Illness Fellowship of Victoria (MIF).
For the past 12 years, the company has held an annual fundraiser in the form of a charity golf day and dinner auction, with all proceeds being donated to the MIF.
With over $1.4 million raised over the 12 years of the event, these funds have been used to construct buildings and implement new programs which raise awareness towards mental illness in the community.
The MIF aid people affected by illnesses such as schizophrenia, depression and bipolar disorder who need specialised assistance to overcome the disabilities these illnesses cause. They also work with the family members, friends, carers and employers of those affected.
“Statistics show that one in five people are affected by mental illness” says SEW-Eurodrive Australia managing director, Robert Merola.
“With our support and funding, the MIF can go a long way towards breaking down the barriers and stigma related to mental illness and making the world a better place for sufferers.”
This year, the 13th running of the event will feature a corporate golf day at Melbourne’s Sanctuary Lakes Golf Club on September 27th, followed by a gala dinner auction on Saturday October 2nd at Tabcorp Park.
The gala dinner auction will be highlighted by a performance from former Australian Idol Semi Finalist, Ricky Muscat. SEW-Eurodrive welcome sponsors and donors for the cause.
