Safety first, Shaun…
While those words were quipped by the remarkable Bill Nighy mid-zombie apocalypse in Shaun of the Dead, regardless of the extremity, safety indeed comes first.
Safety In Action 2013 began today at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, showcasing the latest innovations in workplace health and safety from around the nation.
Over 150 exhibitors are featuring in this year’s Safety In Action, with exclusive product premieres from companies such as BOC, Ferno, Enware and Oliver Footwear, and expert demonstrations from Nichiyu Forklifts, among others.
Continuing to develop specialised safety solutions, Andrew Charlton from SM Safety (Stand E18) said that the company’s lightweight Monster Wheel Chocks for the Mining industry have been well received by the industry. He noted that lightweight varieties will be added to the entire Monster wheel chock range in the near future.
This year representing the forefront of safety, leading industry expert Adrian Manessis from myosh kicked off the Safety in Action seminar series with The Benefits and Risks Associated with Safety Software. This short discussion was designed to help safety professionals assess the performance of their safety software.
There are 14 free seminars running throughout the show covering topics including safety management techniques and strategies, with a focus on enforcing a responsibility for personal safety and executing OH&S from the ground up.
At Advanced Logistics and Materials Handling, running concurrent with Safety In Action, Rotacaster Wheel Limited (B2) is introducing a self supporting crate truck to its signature Rototruck range. The new truck offers complete automatic guidance and ergonomic tip back for bumps, providing safer movement while reducing the strain placed on workers from manually lifting heavy loads.
Kockums Bulk Systems (B9) is demonstrating VC100 and Vacu Cobra assisted vacuum lift systems, which are designed to easily lift 60kgs, relieving potential back strain and incorrect handling techniques.
Safety In Action continues over the next three days at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Safety In Action runs:
Tuesday 19 March 10am – 4pm
Wednesday 20 March 9am – 4pm
