Rolls-Royce to target mining regions

Luxury car manufacturer Rolls-Royce is hoping to boost sales of its million dollar vehicles by targeting cashed-up Australians in the mining sector.

While the company has sold 15 cars in Australia this year, Rolls-Royce officials said the number was expected to rise as resource-rich regions of Queensland and Western Australia were targeted.

Rolls-Royce Asia-Pacific regional director Paul Harris told Fairfax Media there was “potential” in mining regions and sales would be on the rise “once we establish businesses in those areas”.

Earlier this week Rolls-Royce launched an updated version of its flagship Phantom line, and a West Australian showroom is expected to open mid-2013.

Described by Rolls-Royce as the “pinnacle super-luxury car” the Phantom Series II will cost $855,000 for the base sedan and $1,075,000 for the luxury model.
