NERGECO’S latest addition to its range of rapid-roll industrial doors, the Forum Star 2, is designed for smooth traffic flow and safety.
The door is made of multi-layer, wear-resistant PVC fabric, with transparent panels to allow visibility. The windows are protected from abrasion by a system of ribs, so there is no contact when the door is rolled up.
The door is held in position by a hollow U-shaped frame that envelops the mechanism. Close fitting of the curtain into the guides provides good airtight sealing, and a 50mm extension seals to the floor.
According to the company, one of the most common problems associated with industrial doors is damage from forklifts and other equipment. The Forum Star 2 deals with this by using a system in which the curtain relocates to the guides automatically (during the next opening cycle) if displaced, and by incorporating a series of flexible tubes at the bottom of the curtain instead of a solid bar.
The absence of a solid bar also adds to safety in the event of accidental closure.
The door can be installed with a manual operating system, but the company says the trend is towards automatic opening and closing. Automatic operating systems can include induction loops, remote controls, or sensors mounted on vehicles.
