ASX-listed and Queanbeyan, NSW based manufacturer Electro Optic Systems (EOS) has been selected by the Australian Army to provide Remote Weapon Stations for the Boxer Combat Reconnaissance Vehicles (CRV).
The $45 million contract is part of the LAND 400 Phase 2 project, and provides the Australian Army with locally manufactured close combat capability, said Defence Minister, Linda Reynolds.
“These cutting edge Remote Weapon Stations will provide a superior self-protection capability for our Boxer 8×8 Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle crews,” she said.
According to the Defence Minister, EOS will continue to employ roughly 100 workers through delivery of this contract. Ahead of the delivery of the weapons systems in 2022, EOS will conduct development, integration, and testing activities.
The selected product, the R400S-Mk2-D-HD is a weapon mount that can support machine guns through to lightweight cannons and anti-tank missiles. According to Grant Sanderson, CEO of EOS Defence Systems, the selection of EOS’s product is the result of wider work in the Australian defence industry.
“The R400 is world class Australian technology supported by over 70 Australian supply chain providers and is an excellent demonstration of Australian defence industry capability supporting Australia’s soldiers,” he said.
According to EOS, 88 per cent of its supply chain is locally sourced.
