Photon Energy has revealed its plans for a 316W solar plant in Gunning, which would be the biggest solar power plant in NSW.
The project is intended to help Australia meet its Renewable Energy Target and assist in the transition from coal to renewable energy.
It will involve the construction of hundreds of thousands of solar panels on 590 hectares of land in Gunning, near Goulburn in NSW. The company is also considering the design of a 300MW substation to be connected to its 330KV grid.
According to Photon Energy managing director Michael Gartner, Gunning’s location between Canberra and Sydney makes it ideal for connecting to the electricity grid.
The project is currently being evaluated by the NSW Department of Planning, with construction estimated to begin in 2019.
