Vision module

National Instruments’ new
vision module for the PXI plat
form is reportedly suitable for
hardware-defined timing, con
trol and image pre-processing.

The Camera Link adapter
unit, model NI 1483, can be
used in combination with a
FlexRIO field-programmable
gate array (FPGA) board for
embedding vision and control
algorithms directly onto

the boards.

Engineers and scientists can
use FPGAs to process and analyse
an image in real time with little
to no CPU intervention.

According to the company, the
FPGAs can implement many
image processing algorithms
that are inherently parallel,
including: fast Fourier trans
forms (FFTs); thresholding;

and filtering.

The module is also suited for
acquiring images from Camera
Link devices with custom tap
configurations and high-resolu
tion sensors measuring more
than 10 megapixels and

requiring hardware-based

pre-processing.
