Temperature reading barcode

Varcode’s FreshCode label is a standard linear barcode of user-configurable design that records time passed, and temperature exposed.

The barcode is said to be low cost and can be used at a pallet or product level. It can also be read by existing barcode readers, immediately logging the information into a data management system.

Information recorded is said to be accurate, reliable, and requires no subjective interpretation. Once it is activated the label monitors the complete history of the product to which it is attached.

The barcode label comes with a web based application that consists of a monitoring server that transparently records the information in real time. The company says the system is fully customisable and can work in stand-alone mode or integrated into an existing IT system.

It is suitable for use with temperature-sensitive products in the pharmaceutical and fresh produce industries.
