Surface roughness instrument

TAYLOR Hobson has introduced the latest addition to its shopfloor range of surface roughness instruments – the skidless Surtronic 25s.

The instrument is said to offer high accuracy roughness, waviness and straightness in a truly portable shopfloor instrument.

It has a 25mm straightness datum (0.3µm/25mm) with a wide gauge range of 0.5mm ensuring ease of set up. The instrument has a resolution of down to 0.01µm.

The instrument has also been designed to be fully self-contained – the measurement stylus, powerful processor and built-in storage function are all contained in one handheld battery operated unit.

This makes it easy to move around the shopfloor for measurements such as wear analysis, waviness measurements of sealing faces such as on engine blocks and cylinder heads, turbine blade edge measurements and small lands and features.

The 0.5mm gauge range of the instruments and the unique lift/lower mechanism with fine adjustment ensures that measurement set up is fast and accurate.

The keypad menu structure is clear and intuitive allowing measurement settings to be selected and saved as defaults.

With a choice of 27 different parameters built into the instrument, the Surtronic 25s covers the most common requirements in a single unit.

Parameters include Rk and bearing ratio analysis, waviness and R&W motifs. Up to 100 measurement sets can be saved on the Surtronic 25s.

More in-depth graphical analysis can be carried out with optional Talyprofile analysis software.
