Spray-on protective lining

A SPRAY-ON protective lining used successfully by the US military to limit loss of life and damage caused by attacks on combat vehicles and fuel tankers is now available in Australia. Rhino Linings Australasia has teamed with US-based company High Impact Technology (HIT) to make their jointly produced BattleJacket Fuel Cell Containment System available to the Australian armed forces and other industries to which it is applicable. The system is said to act as a self-sealing skin to reduce the damaged caused by insurgent attacks. The engineered, elastomeric material is designed to expand and then permanently reseals after a fuel tank is penetrated by a bullet or other ballistic projectile.Other uses for the system include protection of railcars, pipelines, boat fuel tanks and above ground fuel storage facilities. It is also said to provide protection against corrosion and abrasion and can be applied on metal and plastic surfaces.
