Product lifecycle management (PLM) supplier Siemens PLM Software has forged a joint project with Microsoft Corporation to create a cloud computing-based quality management solution.
The software will use the Microsoft Windows Azure cloud computing platform to securely run Siemens PLM Software’s Dimensional Planning and Validation (DPV) application.
According to Siemens PLM Software, the software represents the PLM industry’s first cloud computing-based quality management solution. The solution is designed to show how cloud computing can enable a quality management application to be cost-effectively accessed and leveraged on an as-needed basis.
The joint project is one of several being pursued by Siemens PLM Software and Microsoft to test and validate how cloud computing can be successfully used with PLM to create value for the global manufacturing industry.
