Power quality quantity monitoring

POWER Quality Solutions has introduced the PQube power quality and power quantity monitor from Power Standards Laboratory, USA. The PQube measures voltage disturbances and steady state trend values storing data on a standard SD card.

The Pqube — designed to be built into equipment, switchboards, etc.

It has been designed to be built into equipment, switchboards, etc., to provide a quick and low cost source of data to assist in resolving equipment malfunctions and operating parameters in any application where continuity of power supply is important.

Using the optional Ethernet module the PQube can email disturbance event notifications including attachments of time stamped RMS and waveform event pictures and Excel compatible files.

The PQube stores data and performs calculations in accordance with the latest global power quality measurement methods standard IEC and AS/NZ 61000-4-30 to the highest or Class A requirements. Sampling rate is 256 samples per cycle.

No special software is required – all data is in Excel compatible files. If required set-up files can be prepared off-line and transferred to the SD card manually or via the optional Ethernet module.

For users that require assistance with data analysis and interpretation, Power Quality Solutions can provide these services.

The PQube is modular and mounts on a standard DIN rail and can take operating power from 24V ac, 24V dc and 48V dc as standard. Using the optional power supply module, 100-240V 50/60Hz can be used.

Voltage monitoring input connections can be single-phase, three-phase delta, three-phase star/Y and split-phase with nominal input voltages between 100V and 600V dc/50/60/400Hz.

Voltage disturbances recorded include sags/dips, interruptions, frequency variations and impulses to 1µs.

One digital and two ±60V analogue inputs and one relay contact output are provided as standard.

User ‘snap-together’ options include power supply module, Ethernet module, temperature/humidity probes and soon to be released 1A and 5A current transformer inputs and 20A and 100A direct wired line currents.

Factory fitted options for voltage harmonics, voltage flicker, current harmonics, power consumption, GPS for precision timing, serial RS232/485 communications, Zigbee wireless communications and additional relay outputs will also soon be available.
