Sure footing with anti-slip sheets

AUSTRALIAN Warehouse Solutions (AWS) has been appointed the exclusive Australian distributor for Stabulon anti-slip sheets which are renowned for protecting palletised goods from damage.

Vibration during transportation often causes palletised products to slip. The anti-slip sheets have been designed to be placed between pallet layers as to ensure products do not slip or cause unnecessary damage to lower layers.

With a static coefficient of friction (COF) of 42°, the sheets will grip on paper, cardboard, glass, plastic and varnished surfaces.

Features of the camera system include: electro-sensitive protective equipment based on image processing technology; compact triangular housing allowing flexible workstation mounting and; permanent self-monitoring system which inspects the reflector strip for dirt, holes, damaged areas or objects placed upon it.

With its 110° angle of view, the camera system automatically detects the entire length and breadth of the reflector area and aligns the monitoring field on it with a resolution of 20 mm.

The system will then respond within 20m if anyone reaches into the machine while it is running, and immediately stops the process.

According to the company, ergonomic workplaces can now be achieved with the camera system offering comfortable and effective work.

The device is easily and dependably mounted with just two screws. Even as a single sensor, the system generates a diagonal protective field with a maximum range of 1.41m, to protect openings with dimensions of 1m x 1m.

Modular safety system for total control

THE modular safety control samos PRO from Wieland Electric is able to process up to 96 safety inputs and 48 safety outputs simultaneously, all with free and upgradeable software for the user.

Designed as a safety solution for mechanical and system engineering monitors for all kinds of safety sensors such as emergency stop pushbuttons, light curtains and interlocking installations on guard doors, it has a very short reaction time of few milliseconds that allows protective measures to be mounted closer to dangerous areas of a machine.

Despite their high performance capabilities the individual modules are only 22.5 mm wide, which allows programmable safety solutions in total construction widths starting from 45 mm. The modular safety control satisfies SIL 3 or PL e, among others, according to the current European standards EN 61508, EN ISO 13849-1 and EN 62061 and is CAT 4 compliant.

The new Ethernet gateways SA-EN-IP and SA-EN-MOD now enable users to analyse the control and diagnostic data of the samos system in higher-level management and automation systems. The gateways support the Ethernet protocols Ethernet/IP or Modbus/TCP and have a device-integrated switch.

The modular safety system makes it possible to monitor up to 30 safety sensors and to parameterise them simply with a screwdriver without any software.

With eight switchable functions at both the master and the slave the samos modules can be adapted to all safety sensors up to safety category 4 and thus perform functions such as emergency stop, guard door, light curtain, two-hand control or controlled stop.

The modular safety system can be used for zone control in the robotics, manufacturing, packaging, mining, materials handling and component assembly industries.

THE benefits that the imaQcut range of vertical plasma cutting machines can offer are endless, according to the designer Australasian Industrial Marketing Services (AIMS).

The imaQcut offers standard cutting, high definition cutting and plasma marking, with the standard of laser but at a much more affordable price.

The imaQcut model 12.5 has a cutting area of 3650mm x 1550mm, but the machine’s footprint is only 5000mm x 920mm. The unique design of the torch carriage provides 60M/min cutting speed as standard. AIMS also provide a high speed version which offers 120M/min cutting with 1.5 Gs of acceleration.

AIMS can offer multiple cutting racks which slide in and out of the machine to allow a full production situation where the machine is always cutting – you don’t need to wait for material to be loaded and unloaded.

Operation is simple as the machine control is via a standard Pentium PC running windows XP complete with touch screens. Industry standard G code is run on the imaQcut.

The imaQcut solves many OH&S problems associated with horizontal machines. The machine is fully enclosed, which provides real mechanical safety, and the imaQut is less noisy than the traditional machines. It also does not produce fume or waste into the atmosphere.

Transmissions technical catalogue

IN support of the release of the Boneng range of gear reducer products by Motion Technologies, a 350 page full coloured catalogue has been produced. The fully English catalogue provides specific information on worm, helical and planetary gearing.

The catalogue provides guidance in the selection of products based upon application and environmental factors, complete with fully worked examples.

The larger helical, bevel helical and planetary products benefit from additional focus on thermal performance. The user can select additional cooling options to maximise the mechanical capacity of the reducer selected.

A number of alternatives exist for increasing the thermal capacity of the H series helical and bevel helical drives. These include fan fitment to the high-speed shaft as well as the fitment of external cooling devices such as air-cooled radiators or oil cooled heat exchangers.

The flow of oil through the external cooling circuits can be provided by either a shaft mounted pump, located on an intermediate shaft extension or driven by an electric motor mounted in a module located adjacent to the reducer.

The product reference is available free of charge by contacting Motion Technologies personally or via our web site.

Universal signal conditioners

BÜRKERT Fluid Control Systems has released the new range of universal signal conditioners. The loop powered eLINE LPI signal conditioner works with most standard signal types, in one unit without jumpers (milliamps, millivolts, voltage, thermocouple, RTD, resistance and potential).

The LPI is PC programmed with the facility to enter tables for special RTD or thermocouple sensors, and input/output characterisation by table. Storage space within the compact 13.1mm wide unit is available for recording calibration, configuration, location and tag number records.

Full Windows functionality for storing information and configuration files makes the LPI straightforward and simple to use, with a USB cable accessory and software (eLINE UCI) suitable for configuration of unlimited units. The LPI is designed for 35mm DIN rail mount.

A second lower cost unit, eLINE API, is auxiliary powered and delivers on more common milliamp or voltage inputs, for a standard 4 .. 20mA output.

Used as a converter, eLINE signal conditioners work to transform any of these signal types into another (4 .. 20mA output). With input characterisation tables this unit will deliver conversion to any engineering unit, delivering required process output measure.

Signal conditioners may be used for isolating control circuit sections to avoid ground loops, common mode noise and to isolate portions of control systems. The units are also used as boosters to add capacity to overloaded current loops.

Multi-sensor shop floor CMM

HI-TECH Metrology has introduced into Australia the new Cordax Discovery III, said to be the next generation of measurement devices.

The CMM offers high accuracy, improved thermal performance, a new industrial design and expanded control options. Available in three measuring ranges from 500x600x400mm to 760x1000x600mm, this new CMM is sized to suit the majority of manufactured parts.

Main design features include hardened linear guides and recirculating ball bearings in place of air bearings and improved accuracy and thermal performance.

According to the company, with the addition of support for CMM-V and ScanShark probes, the device is now a true multi-sensor shop floor CMM ideally suited for challenging applications that require non-contact vision measurement.

With indexable vision measurement, the CMM also lets users inspect features contained in an entire field of view, at multiple probe angles and in difficult areas — such as small features, holes, slots or edge positions.

Software controlled, integrated LED illumination allows image optimisation for each measurement and with the compatible automated changing rack, it’s easy to switch from CMM-V to touch trigger or analogue scanning probes without changing setups.
