PRECISION tool manufacturer Walter has released a modular milling cutter system ConeFit for manufacturing components with intricate contours.The milling head is made from solid carbide while the tool holder is steel. The heart of the system is a patent-pending, self-centring precision mounting thread and is a mixture of buttress and trapezoidal threads. A ground cone ensures exact concentricity while an axial support face is said to guarantee high rigidity.According to Walter, the cutting edge geometries are derived from other milling cutters in the company range and long tool edge life on machining all ISO material groups is ensured by a special TAX (titanium-aluminium-nitride coating) on the cutting edges.The tool diameter ranges from 10 to 20mm.
