Kingdom introduces new sound level meter

A new entry-level sound level meter is now available from China-based Kingdom, called the BSWA308 Class 1 integrating sound level meter.

The BSWA308 will be shown for the first time at the International Congress on Acoustics, Sydney Convention Centre, Darling Harbour, on August 23 to 27, 2010.

According to Kingdom, the BSWA308 is low-cost but does not compromise on standards, quality or utility. In fact, the unit complies with the IEC61672 international standards and features an industrially-designed housing suitable for harsh envi ronments such as manufacturing and process facilities.

The sound level meter incorporates a 0.5-inch microphone, sup ported by an ICCP (IEPE) pre amplifier, along with a TNC con nector that can be operated attached or detached from the main processing unit via a micro phone extension cable.

The unit itself has a dynamic range of 102 dB and measures noise from 29 dBA to 131 dBA in a single range. It can measure three parameters simultaneously with the A, C, and Z frequency weightings and with F, S, and I time weightings.

The equivalent continuous sound pressure level and maxi mum and minimum values are calculated. The integration time for integral sound quantities can be set. The BSWA308 is an ideal sound level instrument for gener al purposes noise measurements where Class 1 accuracy is required or desirable.
