The ACURO AC58-I encoder from Hengstler is a two-in-one unit that can be used both for positioning and feedback applications.
Hengstler says the dual-mode encoder encodes incremental and absolute signals together in the one enclosure, which will save costs and free-up engineering design of electric motors.
In some drive and positioning applications, electric motors are used, with an incremental encoder assuming the feedback and absolute encoders assuming the rotor positioning. In this instance, two encoders are integrated to attain the desired output signals.
According to Hengstler, the ACURO AC58-I encoder allows a smaller footprint and can withstand a range of climates from -40 °C to 100 °C, making it suitable for harsh process environments.
