THE NAMBUCCA Shire Council has given development approval for a new manufacturing plant to be built at the Macksville industrial estate.
When operational, the Abi Group concrete manufacturing facility is expected to employ about 50 people as well as buy up to 25,000 cubic metres of concrete a year from local suppliers.
The council’s general manager, Michael Coulter, says the new plant will be a great boost to the local economy, with other businesses already expressing interest to establish on the back of Abi Group’s investment.
Products from the plant will include concrete bridge girders and pylons for use on the Pacific Highway upgrade and also in other road and rail construction in northern NSW and southern Queensland.
