PANASONIC Toughbook CF-19 units are being used by Honda Australia dealers to perform health checks on their vehicles.
Honda Australia needed a rugged mobile computing solution which could withstand a real-world technical workshop environment, and work in conjunction with the company’s Modular Vehicle Communications Interface (MVCI) diagnostic system.
The units are used continuously throughout the day by over 700 technicians Australia-wide. Honda dealerships have benefited from faster diagnosis and better customer service.
Carrying out vehicle software upgrades with the old system was taking around fifteen minutes. With the new system and Toughbook, technicians can complete upgrades in around two minutes.
With faster diagnostics and troubleshooting, customers have shortened wait times, and vehicles are repaired and back on the road quickly.
The Toughbook CF-19 features an Intel Core i5 Processor, battery life of up to nine hours as well as MIL-STD-810G and IP65.
Other tough features include a magnesium alloy frame and specialised shock-absorbent damper encasing the hard drive, so the unit can withstand knocks, heavy vibrations and sharp temperature fluctuations, as well as survive falls from up to 1.8 metres.
