SUPPLIERS in the mining, manufacturing, defence and renewable energy industries will receive assistance to tap into major projects both in Australia and abroad, Australian Industry Minister, Ian Macfarlane, announced on October 12.
Macfarlane said six proposals will share in $1.1 million through the government’s Supplier Access to Major Projects program which boosts opportunities for Australian industry participation in major ventures.
“Australian companies have so much to offer major projects, both in Australia and overseas, and it is often just a matter of connecting the right people,” Macfarlane said.
“SAMP helps make this happen by identifying opportunities for capable and competitive Australian companies to supply major projects.
“SAMP has a strong track record in linking the best of Australian suppliers, especially small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs), with project opportunities.
“Since 1997, SAMP has helped Australian companies win contracts worth more than $1.7 billion for work which might otherwise have gone to overseas competitors.”
