[VIDEO] Holden manufacturing executive calls for support at Endeavour Awards 2011

Holden Australia’s executive director of manufacturing operations, Martyn Cray, calls on the government to give more support to Australian manufacturers at the 8th Annual Manufacturers’ Monthly Endeavour Awards.

Cray was speaking to a room of 300 Australian manufacturing professionals at the Endeavour Awards ceremony in Melbourne on 25 May 2011.

The Endeavour Awards is Manufacturers’ Monthly magazine’s annual awards program, rewarding excellence in Australian manufacturing. It is now in its 8th year.

Cray said that all manufacturers around the world receive support from their respective Governments, and it should be no different in Australia.

"Don’t let the Government tell you otherwise," he said.

Cray also took the opportunity to announce that Holden Australia will increase its production of the Holden Cruze from 430 to 480 per day in August 2011 — a great sign for automotive manufacturing in Australia, and also for the manufacturing industry in general.

3,500 parts go into the production of each Holden Cruze, and there are 51 variations coming off the production line at Holden’s Elizabeth, South Australia, manufacturing plant.
