ABB, a power and automation technology group announced the Australian launch of its campaign to encourage manufacturers to take a serious look at investment in robotics and automated plants, with advice on how to maintain a strong position against competitors around the world.

The ’10 reasons’ campaign toolkit demonstrates the value robotic technology can bring to a plant and is comprised of a range of tools to help companies understand the potential benefits of switching to automated production.

Available in pdf format with hyperlinks to the ABB robotics website and other useful information sources, the guide explains how robots are bringing benefits to real-life users and outlines the different robot options available for particular applications.

To support the guide, there is also a dedicated ’10 reasons’ magazine, which consists of a more in-depth look at the various applications covered in the guide, plus a contribution from leading robot expert, Mike Wilson (former chairman of the International Federation of Robotics IFR). It encourages manufacturers and their colleagues to take a serious look at investment and consider the potential for global competition.

The 10 good reasons include:

Reduce operating costs

Improve product quality and consistency

Improve quality of work for employees

Increase production output rates

Increase product manufacturing flexibility

Reduce material waste and increase yield

Comply with safety rules and improve workplace health and safety

Reduce labour turnover and difficulty of recruiting workers

Reduce capital costs

Save space in high value manufacturing areas
