Sparrows Group soars ahead globally with Epicor ERP solution

Global leader in offshore lifting, crane engineering, operations and maintenance, the Sparrows Group has selected Epicor’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution to support the organisation’s international growth plans.

Since 2000, Sparrows has grown from a £50m (GBP) turnover company with operations in three countries to a £160m+ (GBP) global entity operating in 12 countries.

The new implementation of Epicor ERP software will replace three existing systems used across Sparrows’ global operation, giving the company a single unified view of the business.

The company had earlier implemented Epicor Vantage within its US operation and was convinced that an upgrade to the next-generation ERP solution would benefit the whole group. The new solution will make extensive use of Epicor Human Capital Management and Field Service Management modules, as well as its advanced Customer Relationship Management features.

According to Martin Brayshaw, finance and business improvement executive at Sparrows Group, the company’s rapid increase in scale and complexity of business called for greater sophistication in the management information systems supporting it.

He comments that Epicor ERP significantly adds to the earlier Vantage package operated at their US locations. While retaining its strength in manufacturing support, the new ERP implementation will allow the company to manage the engineering and field service time/ resource planning elements of their business more closely.

After reviewing multiple ERP solutions in the market, Epicor’s ERP software was selected for providing an excellent balance between features and ease of use, as well as supporting the company’s future needs in terms of scalability and flexibility, as it evolved to take advantage of new opportunities.

Malcolm Fox, director, product marketing for Epicor explains that Epicor Human Capital Management can be configured to integrate with the field service and CRM modules to allow the planning, forecasting and allocation of resources in addition to identifying individuals with skills that might be required for a given project.
