Consumer electronics company Soniq is targeting India’s growing middle class, after entering the market three months ago.
BRW reports that the Melbourne-based company is being sold through 180 outlets in India through a partnership with Reliance Industries.
“If you think about the Indian market, it has a growing middle class but they are still very price conscious,” marketing manager Stathis Georgianos told BRW, while declining to mention any specific revenue figures.
“It’s a match made in heaven. We can provide a price point that’s considered lower than some of the other big brands in the marketplace.”
Soniq was founded in 2000 and employs about 60 in Australia, with its R&D and after-sales service taking place in Melbourne. The bulk of its manufacturing in done in Lian Yun Guang, about 375 kilometres north of Shanghai.
