Schneider Electric Australia recruits record number of new graduates

Schneider Electric is taking on a record 14 new graduates as part of its 2012 Energy Generation graduate program.

The graduates, who will start with the company in February 2012, were selected from across Australia for both their technical skills and interest in wanting to solve the energy challenges facing the planet.

The selected graduates will fill both engineering and business roles in areas such as marketing and HR. The new recruits will either take on a fixed role within a business unit or join a two year rotational future leaders program.

Under the future leaders program, the young professionals will explore a range of roles and businesses within the organisation and start working on customer challenges from day one.

This will include placements across Australia in locations such as Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane, as well as overseas destinations.

Stephen Coop, Managing Director Pacific at Schneider Electric commented: “Developments in the energy sector are moving at such pace that it’s essential we’re recruiting future leaders that help our customers transition toward a low carbon economy. That’s why over the next five years we’ve made a commitment to recruit 100 graduates into Schneider Electric Australia.”

All graduates joining Schneider Electric will follow a structured learning path and receive ongoing training and development through in-house training, e-learning and the Schneider Electric global University. Graduates will also be assigned a mentor that will provide one-to-one career support as the graduates rotate from business unit to business unit.

“For our latest intake I’m pleased to say that we have found 14 graduates that want to make a difference, that have a global mindset and are passionate about their chosen field of expertise.

"Given the sector we operate within is extremely fast-paced, these graduates displayed innovative thinking and are open to change and opportunities.”

Srinith Andradi, a recent engineering graduate from Monash University, who will join Schneider Electric’s latest graduate intake, said: “What attracted me most to Schneider Electric was the global reach of the company.

"As a young engineer I’m keen to travel and develop my career through working in overseas markets such as China and Brazil. Securing a role at Schneider Electric means I can one day fulfill these ambitions.

"The emphasis Schneider Electric places on people and development was also highly attractive and a major reason as to why I wanted to join the organisation.”

This year’s graduate program received over 400 applicants across Australia. Of these applications, 40 were selected to attend assessment days held in Sydney and Melbourne last month.

At the assessment days, candidates underwent psychometric, personality tests and carried out practical group exercises designed to assess their abilities in problem solving.
