Rakon to shut English factory

New Zealand-listed electronics manufacturer Rakon has
announced that it will shut its Lincoln, England factory, shedding nearly 90
jobs.

Fairfax reports that a review found duplications between Rakon’s
NZ and British operations, both of which make the company’s Pluto range of
crystal oscillators.

No set timeline was given for the closure of the Lincoln
site, but the company said it would continue its English R&D at Harlow.

The company said it was too early to say whether there would
be jobs created in NZ as a result of the restructuring.
