Poland aerospace supply chain links hold potential: Austrade

A Polish delegation is visiting the country this
week to investigate linkages with Australian aerospace businesses.

Poland has a major aerospace industry,
and, according to Austrade, presents substantial opportunities for Australia’s sector.

“Poland may
seem like a distant market to many Australians but the growing importance of
global supply chains, particularly in the aerospace sector, makes it impossible
to ignore,” said Austrade’s Senior Trade Commissioner in Warsaw, Steve Rank, in
a statement.

According to
PWC, the Polish aerospace sector ranks in the top ten globally. Its Aviation
Valley cluster (established in 2003) alone generates revenues of $1.5 billion
(four-fifths of this is exported) and employs 20,000.

“There are opportunities for Australian companies to form partnerships
with Polish firms, accessing wider networks in Europe and the United States,”
said Rank, who added collaborative R&D efforts also presented
opportunities.

According to an Austrade study
released in 2013, Aerospace Manufacturing
and Services
, Australia’s $4 billion sector boasts a high skills base, and has the “highest product quality levels” in its region.
