The NSW Government pledged its commitment to the state’s defence industry by becoming the principal sponsor for the PACIFIC 2017 International Maritime exposition in Sydney this October.
Director of Defence NSW at the NSW Department of Industry, Commodore Peter Scott CSC RANR, said the three-day event – Australia’s largest maritime industry conference – will promote the NSW defence industry to more than 500 companies from 21 countries.
“At PACIFIC 2017 we will be showcasing NSW defence industry capabilities to national and international decision makers in the commercial maritime and naval defence sectors,” he said.
“It’s a significant platform for Defence NSW to promote and drive outcomes from New South Wales: Strong, Smart and Connected, the NSW Government’s Defence and Industry Strategy, including getting small and medium sized enterprises better engaged with global defence businesses.
“It’s part of the NSW Government’s commitment to working with other states and territories to ensure a national approach to supporting Defence. A strong NSW defence industry is vital for Defence, and will further strengthen the NSW economy and jobs growth.
“Our support for the conference will also help us leverage NSW strengths in key capability areas from complex systems integration and defence sustainment to advanced manufacturing, cybersecurity, and even space technology.”
Defence NSW will host a stand showcasing 12 of the most innovative and competitive defence companies in NSW including from key defence industry clusters in Sydney, in the Hunter and on the South Coast.
PACIFIC 2017 will also feature 15 related conferences including the Royal Australian Navy Sea Power Conference 2017, Innovation Awards and an Innovation Pitchfest event.
PACIFIC 2017 will be held at Darling Harbour’s International Convention Centre from October 3-5.
