New white paper on weighing data integration

Weighing instrument manufacturer METTLER TOLEDO has released a new white paper on effective integration of weight data into PLC, MES or ERP systems, including Ethernet TCP/IP with OPC server communication and PLC Fieldbus systems, such as EtherNet/IP and Profibus DP.

METTLER TOLEDO manufactures weighing instruments for use in laboratory, industrial and food retailing applications.

The white paper addresses the different considerations between industrial network design and office network design. The document holds a list of questions to determine data integration objectives and hints to minimise network load.

The white paper is intended to be an information source for companies and persons who need to integrate weighing data in a PLC, MES or ERP system.

According to METTLER TOLEDO, the efficient transfer of weighing data to higher level PLC, MES or ERP systems makes manufacturing processes more proficient and more transparent.

“It can result in more accurate or faster filling and control processes,” the company said.

“Increased transparency can improve asset use, reduce operating costs, and make complying with certification standards or industrial regulations easier.

“But identifying and implementing the most effective system for data transfer and integration can be challenging.”
