The Queensland Government has opened the third round of its popular Small Business Digital Grants, providing up to $10,000 in matched funding to operators keen to embrace new technology.
Small Business Minister Leeanne Enoch said 403 Queensland small businesses have already shared in more than $2 million in funding under the first two rounds of the program – generating growth and new jobs.
“Digital capability is essential for success in today’s online world, and the response to these grants highlights how the state’s small business owners agree,” Ms Enoch said.
“The Palaszczuk Government’s economic plan is setting the right conditions for small business growth after the deep cuts of the Newman-Nicholls LNP.
“Under our $22.7 million Advancing Small Business Queensland Strategy, we’ve committed $6 million over three years to the Small Business Digital Grants program to ensure small businesses have the support they need to start, grow and employ.
“The program is assisting small businesses to access the latest digital technologies to increase their productivity and competitiveness, which will lead to business growth and more jobs for Queenslanders.
“Small businesses owners and operators are using our grants to access digital technologies and services to enable them to work smarter, engage with the global economy and make the most of online business opportunities.
“Funding to previous recipients has helped a tourism business introduce an integrated online reservation and booking system. Another business is redesigning their website for e-commerce transactions, and another is trialling a new mobile application for the health industry,” Ms Enoch said.
Applications for the third round close on 24 October 2017, with funding of up to $10,000, matched by participants, available to eligible businesses for the purchase of hardware, software and services such as digital coaching.
To be eligible, Queensland small businesses must show the digital technology or service purchased and adopted will enhance the digital capabilities of their business and help them to be more competitive and employ more staff.
