Krauss Maffei unveils new CX injection moulding machine series

Krauss Maffei of Munich, Germany presented the new CX range of injection
moulding machines at the recent Fakuma exhibition.

Offering a clamping force range of 350 to 1600kN, Krauss Maffei’s new CX
injection moulding machines incorporate several enhancements based on consultation
with key customers. Krauss Maffei engineers also carried out an extensive
testing protocol before implementing the machine improvements that aligned with
their customers’ needs.

Key benefits of the CX series injection moulding machines include 10%
less energy consumption through optimisation of all energy inputs; 15%
improvement in speed achieved by optimising the interaction between the new
valve technology and hydraulic switching concepts; 20% reduction in oil volume
requirements; 25% increase in efficiency thanks to mould change automation and
faster set-up times; and 30% reduction in noise with a new soundproof cover.

According to Dr Golz, President of the Injection Moulding Machinery
segment of Krauss Maffei, all these improvements add up to 100% value for their
customers.

New features in Krauss Maffei’s CX series injection moulding machines
include Adaptive Process Control system (APC) immediately compensating for
fluctuations in the injection moulding process; optional bayonet style quick mould
clamping system enabling particularly short mould set-up times; platen size
options allowing up to 40% increase in platen dimensions; and auto and manual
tie bar pulling option for processors having high frequency mould changes of
oversize moulds.

The CX series also includes an optional plasticising unit adaptor
allowing for seamless changeover of injection units without changing overall
plasticising unit length; a new ejector coupling to simplify changing moulds
and capable of compensating for small axis offsets between the mould and
ejector; and new compact integrated servo drive sprue picker with a telescoping
stroke.
