Honda NZ recalls 6000 cars

Honda New Zealand is recalling about 6000 cars because of
the same airbag defect which led to Honda’s worldwide recall of 2 million
vehicles. reports that the vehicles included are CR-V,
Jazz and Civic models made between 2002 and 2003, as well as the 2003 Accord.

Honda New Zealand national service manager Bryan Davis told that owners of the cars would receive letters notifying them of the
recall. The replacement parts would arrive sometime this month and replacements
would be made free-of-charge.

Davis added that those Honda owners who do not receive a
letter are not affected and there is no need for them to seek replacements.

As reported by Sky News, last month Honda recalled more than two million vehicles
worldwide because of the defect. 13 types of vehicles were included and most of
the recalls were in Japan and North America.

According to the company, a faulty propellant component may
have been used in the assembly of the airbags. The container of the inflator could
rupture in a crash and could cause fire or injure passengers.
