US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has praised defence manufacturers in Adelaide and marked the city’s defence hub as one of the “critical industrial centres in the world”.
In a high profile visit to Adelaide’s $300 million Techport defence facility, Clinton heaped praise on the work being done in South Australia, and said it played a critical role in the Asia-Pacific, ABC News reports.
Three destroyers are being assembled at Techport, and Clinton said US and Australian manufactures were working together to modernise Australia’s defence forces.
"Adelaide is from our perspective one of the great critical industrial centres in the world, the heart of Australia's defence manufacturing and a place where American and Australian companies work in close partnership every day," she said.
