German manufacturing companies saw an unexpected decrease in
production in May, according to official figures.
As reported by DW, the German Economy Ministry said on
Monday that production in the sector dropped by 1.8 in month when compared to
the previous month.
This was the sector’s third month of decline and it was the
biggest decrease in production for about two years.
However, the Economic Ministry said that the result could be
explained by a number of factors including the fact that Labour Day fell on a
Thursday and therefore many workers took the Friday off work; and also by geopolitical
factors such as the political situations in Ukraine and Iraq.
