First Konecranes SMARTON ‘crane with a brain’ helps Arrium lift safely

An Indonesian
company has become one of the earliest adopters of the new Konecranes SMARTON
intelligent crane in South East Asia.

Moly-Cop Indonesia, part
of the ASX-listed Arrium Mining Consumables Division, produces high quality forged
steel balls for applications such as ball mills in copper and gold
concentrating plants. The company has installed the latest Konecranes SMARTON
‘crane with a brain’ featuring TRUCONNECT remote monitoring and reporting. The SMARTON
crane at Moly-Cop Indonesia’s Cilegon plant also has some of Konecranes’ most
advanced technologies, including smart features such as sway control and target
positioning to make lifting safer and more efficient.

crane featuring an additional magnetic lifter, is used for loading and
unloading material, and is complemented by a 10/2.5t double girder CXT crane
for lifting equipment and maintenance.

The SMARTON ‘crane
with a brain’ maximises safety while minimising downtime. Designed as a robust
crane with a compact footprint, SMARTON overhead cranes allow facilities to
operate in smaller spaces than before, reducing construction costs and heating

Konecranes was able to
meet the client’s requirements for safety, price and maintenance. Moly-Cop
Indonesia decided to add the smart features to save time and money as well as to
ensure efficiency, especially during peak delivery periods. The TRUCONNECT
feature allows the client to optimise their maintenance schedule and ensure
equipment availability all the time.

Moly-Cop Indonesia
and Konecranes have been working together for just over one year at their new
facility in Cilegon, where the highest priority is placed on safety.
Konecranes’ crane has been able to meet the high safety standards at the
client’s facility with its excellent safety features. Konecranes’ maintenance
crew is also very fast to respond with certified technicians who comply with
all safety standards and procedures.

Key features and
benefits of Konecranes CXT cranes include individual hoist capacities up to 80
tons; complementary CXT wire rope hoists; assurance of industry benchmarked
safety and ergonomics; easy and effective load handling; optimum dimensions for
space-saving solutions with ability to operate closer to walls and lift loads
higher; excellent hook approaches at both ends of the crane; minimal headroom
requirement; and tandem operation further enhancing efficiency and utility.
