Fire destroys factory in western Iowa

Fire has destroyed a furniture manufacturing plant at Carter Lake in Western Iowa.

According to The Sioux City Journal, the fire broke out at about 9 pm local time in the plant which makes bar stools and stacked chairs.

Fire fighters fought to contain the fire for several hours but were unable to contain the blaze and the plant was destroyed.

According to, two fire fighters received minor injuries fighting the fire. One was treated at the scene and the other received treatment at a local medical centre.

The Iowa State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire.
